Marking Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day with a Blessing
Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, a time when humans take a moment to honor animals who have died. All the cuties below are creatures I’ve had the honor to know and care for at some point in their lives. Some relationships were brief, while others lasted almost a lifetime. However, no matter how many moments we shared, the time we spent together was meaningful and life-changing for me.
To honor the animals that are no longer in their physical form, I offer a blessing that I use when I come across an animal that has died. While I typically use this blessing for wildlife, it is also meant to honor beloved family pets.
May You Continue On
Dear one,
If you choose to live again, may the next form you take bring you joy.
May your next life be filled with immense happiness, peace, and fulfillment.
May you never be too hot or too cold, and may you always have nourishing food and fresh water.
May your habitat provide you and your family with support and protection, and may you never be without shelter.
And, when your time comes again, may you be an aged elder, surrounded by those you love and who love you.
May your death be calm and serene, and your pain managed.
You are remembered. You matter.
May it be so.
